DEREK MOORE was born in Dublin in 1954 and attended the Royal Irish Academy of Music where he studied flute with Doris Keogh. At the age of 20 he was awarded an Arts Council of Ireland grant to pursue further study at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester under Trevor Wye. After graduation in 1978, he moved to the Netherlands where he was a post-graduate student of Abbie de Quant at the Utrecht Conservatorium, and received his Performers' Diploma 1n 1981. He played throughout Europe as soloist and in chamber music and was a member of the Groupe des Sept. He also made  radio recordings in Ireland and Holland with the Pianist, Neville Schafer. He took part at Master Classes of James Galway, Geoffrey Gilbert, Julius Baker and William Bennet and had a particular aptitude and feeling for French music. His playing was colourful, imaginative and intelligent, and his fellow flautists held him in high esteem. He was well known for his regular tours of Ireland and taught at the Arnhem Conservatorium until his early death in 1988. 

GALIA SHAKED was born in Israel. She studied music at both the Rubin Academy of Music and the University of Toronto, where, as the recipient of a number of academic scholarships, she received her Master of Music in Performace degree in 1979. During her stay in Canada, where her principal teacher was Margaret Parsons-Poole, she performed in solo and chamber recitals, and as a guest soloist with orchestra. Since coming to The Netherlands in 1980 she has performed mainly chamber music and given concerts in several locations in Holland, as well as abroad.
